Just the summer time schedule, you know? Lots of real life stuff going on.

I am getting ready to GM an Eberron campaign for level 14 toons. It will also be my first time trying to play electronically - all of us are used to playing on a battlemat where we use dry erase and figures. I am not sure if the group will like passing around a mouse and looking at a HDTV but we will see.

I personally think they will really enjoy playing on a map made by Dundjinni VS. looking at scribble lines :)

Other than that, when I do have time, I put it towards little things like create aquick token in RPTools or create some floors/craters/etc for Dundjinni.

Hey Steel, I am sorry for slacking with the board tasks I was assigned to up here.. If I just had some more time in my day! :)

Hey man don't worry about it. I know the help is dependent on the amount of spare time you have. It's still GREATLY appreciated!

It's fun to huddle around a battlemat and fight over who's character is where, until the GM says "Shut up and sit down!", lol. Do you have a separate computer or does one or more of your players have a laptop they bring along to connect to the Maptool server?

Yeah, it is fun to huddle around the mat - that is what I am worried about doing it electronically.

Well, I have to powerhouse Laptop. On that I will be running DMGENIE, Maptools, RPGSoundMixer and the sovelior sage D20 rules (in HTML). I will be soaking up a lot of power. I am thinking about bringing a spare laptop out for the connection to the TV running the client MapTools. On this will be a wireless mouse and keyboard setup. 2 of the 4 players will use thier own laptops so the other two players will be passing around the mouse.

With all of this technology in one place, I am hoping it won't turn into a big tech support session - "Why am I getting this pop-up all the time?", "How do I stop AIM from opening?", "I can't see the map!".. Oy, I can see it already. If it is a hell hole, I might abandon all thought of electronic playing for another date :)

We will see..

lol yeah I can see that.

I would try just using two PCs to start with, and if it's going smooth, add another, etc.

But don't get me wrong friend, I really love the whole miniatures feel.. I just hate having a great looking map behind the GM's screen and having a horrible Dry Erase version for the players.

I really don't want to spend tons of money printing color maps and even if I did, how would I keep each room covered before the party got there?

Seem the only way is electronic.. This way both the players and the GM can experience the high quality maps but yet the GM has power to hide stuff.. *shrug*

I feel the same way. As long as you've already got the hardware, you're not spending any more money than you would for a bunch of miniatures that may not even fit what you want (since the bastards at WotC don't make minis for the gamers, but for collectors).

Printing the maps, in my opinion is such a waste.
