Thoughts

I really thought this website was going to explode once you got it running; especially with all the folk at Dundjinni.com looking for more space.

What are your thoughts so far? Think more people will be up here? Man, you are providing a HUGE service here..

Should I go on a mass advertising spree?

I was just curious what your thoughts were, that's all.. Just buddy to buddy.

It's typical, really. My other gallery was the same way, only one or two other people providing content other than myself, but tons of people willing to come and take.

I run another site for NBOS fans (ScreenMonkey, Fractal Mapper, etc), and it's the same story there. People expect the content to appear magically.

But yet so many people give to Dundjinni.com... I wonder what makes their formula work so well?

Hmmm..

Well if anything, we will continue doing what we love to do - we will continue making things and upload them :)

Thanks again for the great service!

I don't know. I don't think it's a formula really. I think they feel like they're supporting the product by posting there and nowhere else. Constant complaints about insufficient filesize for uploads, here's a plae to upload, but they don't do it. Beats me.

Maybe Zip support could help? I notice many people (Dunjinni) zip stuff together and post it for easy downloads. Is there a way we could zip a bunch of maps together like a full campaign and upload them here? The zip could have maps, tokens and even character sheets for NPC's. Then when we upload it, we can attach one picture to the zip for visual identification like all the other thumbnails.

Just a thought... Trying to offer something no other site can do.

I toyed with that idea.

By default, Gallery2 is supposed to be able to process zips of images and exctract the images as individual gallery items. I haven't been able to get that to work. I haven't tried uploading a zip as an item itself. I'll play with that and see what happens.

Well, you can upload zips, and they'll remain intact. You have to add a thumbnail to it after it's uploaded, but it works.

Only problem, doesn't show up on the right "Latest Image" block. It does showup in the Latest Updates link on the left side, though.

So yeah, it works.

Cool!

You might want to add it to the latest news section so people know. The key is knowing about cool things like this :)

Perhaps a seperate album/albums for this type of content?

I think the current categories still apply, so uploading zips into them is preferred.

Then perhaps we should only have the one on the left then? Is there a reason to have two different methods of displaying newest material?

No real reason, except that there wasn't a way to check for new updates before I added that modification. I can hide the right side and see what kind of feedback I get.

Or have it on both sides but the same method.

Knowing what's new and finding content are probably the two most important functions of a library.

It's in the middle area too, don't want to be too awful redundant. I think people can find it ok.
