What I'd like to do is assign albums to people to go through and update items as they have time. Obviously this will be tedious work, since you can't mass update anything, but have to go through each item.

for now, since it's just you and I, Dorpond. Pick an album of the newly added objects and let me know here. I'll start a separate topic as a tracker to note who is doing what.

In addition, anything obviously derivative of commercial works, such as Star Wars or Aliens, they need to be marked as Personal Only under the Usage custom field. If you're not sure, mark it anyway and we'll sort it out later.

All works well here.

Let me take a look at the albums. What albums do you need help with atm?

Define "go though and update albums".

What exactly do you need done?

Also, are there keywords that you commonly use so we can kinda keep standard?

Example:

If we have a wooded area should we use the following: Forest, Rainforest, Jungle, Trees, Woods OR just Forest, Trees, Woods? I guess we need to figure how precise the keywords should be.

Girl, Female, Dame, Sexy, Chick, Lady, Woman OR Girl, Woman, Female?

 See what I mean?

 Thoughts?

I know what you mean.

At this point I don't have a standard. If you can come up with one that you think works, then that's cool. I'd keep it functional, personally. So if you're dealing with a tree image, something like:

tree flora nature

Is about as detail keyword-wise that you'd need to get I would think. Descriptions don't need to be much more either.

As for which albums, Any of them under Mapping Objects.

Forgot to define what I meant by "go through".

I think the main thing is to get the keywords and descriptions in. I wouldn't go beyond that, unless you start seeing something that needs attention.

oh and the Usage field too when needed.

OK, I am currently playing around in:

RPGMapShare Gallery » Mapping Objects: Here Now! » Fantasy Objects » Characters

Man, the hardest part is assigning keywords to the images :)

Seems to take the longest thinking about some that fit.

Cool.

Don't agonize over it too much. The keywords in the old system weren't very complete either. We want to do it right, of course, but don't want it to take an eternity.

Don't forget to change the item title too. It's defaulting to the filename, and often that's too long or non-descriptive.

But be careful not to change the filename, that's the first item visible when editing an item.

Roger That!

Any suggestion on the names when there are many that look the same? Should we name them all Table or Table1, Table2, Table3....?

Only problem with that is I might forget what number I left off.

Thoughts?

If it's mutliples of the same object with different colors or whatnot, just name it one thing and differentiate in the description or the keywords. With the furniture, don't worry about numbering, if it's a table just call it a table, or glass table, wooden table, etc. Doesn't matter if it's the same title as another one.

Well, I am making some progress.

I am starting page 4. I have to quit for now.

At work is tough because of slow bandwidth and at night I have little time because my parents came up from Florida to visit. I am getting there though. Some help is better than none, right?

I was going to update you on the other post but I cannot put anything in the boxes *shrug*

Later!

I GREATLY appreciate your help. I can't say that enough.

I purposefully made the Tracker topic locked, so it doesn't get cluttered. You can post here when you finish an album and start a new one, and I'll update the tracker.

I only have about 10 more objects to go before I am complete. Almost there!

Sorry about the delay- Work and Holiday = Chaos

I might be done by tonight and will pick another album.

differentiate them all..

I'm pretty much using the filename, just adding spaces instead of underscores to break it up, and retaining the numbering so the Tree/shadow combo will more or less remain associated.
