Registration and Email

For some reason Yahoo and Aol don't like emails sent from my server (the feeling is mutual, believe me!). So if you're registering, try and use a non-Yahoo or non-AOL email, otherwise you may never get your confirmation email with your password.

If you've already tried and are still waiting, check you Bulk or Junk mail folders and see if the registration emails went there. Then complain to Yahoo or AOL that these weren't spam, and shouldn't have been flagged as such.

Search Function Fixed

I've added a patch which changes the default gallery search function.

Out of the box, Gallery2 uses Exact Match searching, meaning if you type more than one search term in the search box, the exact phrase had to be found or no results would be returned. This is the opposite of what people expect from search functions, whether it's Google, Yahoo, or any other web search. They were treating searching as if you're searching a text document, and not a dynamic database.

How-To link to an image here from another site.

Generally this type of thing is frowned upon, sometimes known as Bandwidth theft. The preferred method of linking is to navigate to the page here which contains the image, and copy the URL. Then paste that URL into a link on another site as needed.

However, I understand the need to sometimes link to just an image. Here's how to do it:

  • Navigate to the page containing the image you wish to link to.
  • Right-click the image and select
    • Copy Image Location (firefox), or
    • Properties, then copy the Address(URL) section of the properties page to your clipboard (IE).
  • Then paste that URL into the forum or website where you wish the image to appear.
Please comment here if you have any questions.

Banner Ads

Hello All,

As you may have noticed, I've added banner ads to the content area. So if anyone out there has an interest in adding a banner, please make sure it is 468x60 in dimensions, and prefereably less than 50k in filesize. Attach it to a private message to me with pertinant link info, and I'll put it in.

Collapsible Menus

Added a new feature by request (and because it's cool Cool).

You can now collapse any of the menus on the left and right sides, in case some of them aren't of interest to you. The site should remember the collapsed menus and retain tneir state from page to page.
